Dishu (Ground Art) is the combat method that considers the ground its best friend. In Chinese Martial arts there are a number of styles that emphasize ground fighting (such as Dog Boxing in the South or Ditangquan in the North), each have derived their own concepts and approaches whilst elements of ground fighting are found within many of the Chinese martial systems.
Chinese Ground Fighting consists of a few different aspects such as:
- Fighting to the ground (Includes take downs and striking attacks that would end on the ground),
- Striking on the ground (focuses on gaining positioning and applying strikes on the ground),
- Grappling on the ground (includes grappling, locks, wrapping and submissions employed whilst the combatant is on the ground) and,
- Fighting from the ground (that includes unique angles of attack to either strike or grapple from an on ground position).
